During epidemiological week 2, 2016, no new cases of measles or rubella were reportedFootnote 1. It has been 1 epidemiological week since the last reported measles case (week 01, 2016), and 97 weeks since the last reported rubella case (week 10, 2014).

The year-to-date total is 1 case of measles and 0 cases of rubella for 2016 (Figure 1).

Geographic Distribution

There is currently one active case of measles, reported in the Central East region of Ontario (Figure 2). There are no reported active cases of rubella in Canada (figure not shown).

To date in 2016, no other Canadian province or territory has reported any cases of measles or rubella.

To date in 2016, 1 measles case (reported by Ontario) has been genotyped and the genotype was B3 (Figure 3).
