Experience Codes Guidelines for the following Operational Groups: AS, CM, CR, DA, FB, FS, IS, OE, OM, PG, PM, PO, ST

Aboriginal Content

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to programs and/or policies in support of the following Aboriginal groups: First Nations, Métis or Inuit.

Examples of such functions include:

• Working with or in Aboriginal communities;
• Working with Aboriginal organizations or programs;
• Providing advice and recommendations on Aboriginal affairs;
• Advising, consulting and/or collaborating with Aboriginal leaders, administrators or communities;
• Coordinating and leading meetings, presentations and/or workshops with Aboriginal groups; and
• Promoting and facilitating partnerships with Aboriginal groups.

Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) – related activities

Examples of such functions include:

• Handling and processing ATIP requests;
• Interpreting and applying the federal ATIP legislation and related Treasury Board policies and guidelines;
• Researching and providing advice on files related to the Access to Information Act, the Privacy Act or all other related legislation; and
• Analyzing documents in order to provide recommendations on exemptions, exclusions or the release of information under the Access to Information Act, the Privacy Act or all other related legislation.

Accounting – Basic

Examples of such functions include:

• Accounts payable and/or receivable;
• Bookkeeping (such as data entry, filing); and
• Reconciliation and verification of data.

Note: The code could also be used when the requirements of the position ask for education or training in the accounting field.

Administration – Finance

Examples of such functions include:

• Budgeting;
• Working with financial systems;
• Providing financial analysis, reporting or monitoring;
• Financial auditing;
• Providing advice and guidance on financial matters; and
• Processing financial transactions or other activities (such as travel claims, billings, reconciliations).

Administration – Grants and Contributions

Examples of such functions include:

• Providing technical assistance to individuals or groups in the development of their funding application;
• Reviewing and assessing funding applications and making funding recommendations;
• Negotiating and monitoring contribution agreements;
• Providing advice and guidance on the rules and principles governing grants and contributions;
• Developing, negotiating and monitoring funding agreements; and
• Developing, assessing, administrating and evaluating projects or programs within a grant and contribution context.

Administration – Human Resources

Administrating or providing support in one or more of the following specialized activities, fields or programs related to human resources management:

• Awards and Recognition;
• Classification;
• Conflict Resolutions and Mediation;

• Learning;

Administration – Legal

Examples of such functions include:

• Proofreading and editing legal or paralegal material;
• Reviewing and proofreading outgoing documents to ensure that they are correct and comply with legal procedures;
• Accessing and using legal resources;
• Preparing legal correspondence and documents;
• Attending court or conferences to take notes, minutes or dictation;
• Transcribing correspondence and legal documents from digital recordings or handwritten notes;
• Providing registry services;
• Providing legal research services; and
• Monitoring litigation deadlines.

Note: The code could also be used when the requirements of the position ask for education or training in the legal, paralegal or legal secretarial fields.

Administration – Relocation

Examples of such functions include:

• Providing and administering organizational relocation and travel services;
• Interpreting and applying federal government directives, policies, acts and regulations relating to travel and relocation (such as Foreign Service Directives, the Directive on Relocation or organizational relocation programs);
• Providing advice and guidance to employees, managers and third parties regarding federal government or organizational relocation program policies, directives and procedures relating to travel or relocation;
• Providing advice on financial matters pertaining to the eligible allowances and benefits;
• Using software applications such as spreadsheets, databases and e-mail applications relating to travel or relocation; and
• Processing invoices or expense claims relating to travel or relocation.

Administration – Statistics

Examples of such functions include:

• Entering, collecting, searching, verifying, extracting and presenting data;
• Calculating and compiling statistics;
• Writing statistical-related reports; and
• Developing or maintaining statistical databases.

Advanced Administrative Support and Services

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to administrative support services usually provided to senior management or to a team, of a complex and diverse nature and with a high level of responsibility.

Examples of such services could include all of those found in the administrative support and services code, as well as:

• Preparing expense claims;
• Managing a schedule or e-mails;
• Providing advice to managers;
• Handling sensitive, confidential and protected material;
• Scheduling and planning meetings or events;
• Taking and transcribing minutes;
• Co-ordinating or preparing briefing material, memoranda or important correspondence;
• Creating or updating administrative procedures or processes; and
• Overseeing a unit's budget.

Audit and Evaluation

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate to auditing and evaluation activities, including financial and non-financial.

Examples of such activities are:

• Analyzing and reporting on data;
• Presenting audit findings;
• Planning, organizing, conducting and monitoring audit and/or evaluation activities;
• Using a computerized tracking system and/or database;
• Contributing to or preparing project, program or business audit or evaluation reports and making recommendations; and
• Providing advice and guidance on auditing policies, methodologies and standards.

Note: The code could also be used when the requirements of the position ask for education, certification or training in this field.

Call Centre

Examples of such functions include:

• Working in an inbound or outbound call center or Telephone Inquiry Line environment (such as a monitoring or call centre, a 1800 line, a distress line or a crisis centre, or working with multi-line telephone systems);
• Working in a demanding environment with high pressure or a high volume of calls; and
• Providing services to clients in writing, by telephone or by e-mail, by giving and requesting information in order to clarify details or to provide information or advice, all of which being done in a call center environment.

Chauffeur

Examples of such functions include:

• Driving to pick up or meet an employer according to a request, appointment or schedule;
• Performing business errands for an employer (such as delivering mail or business documents);
• Performing daily vehicle inspections and maintenance;
• Cleaning and making minor repairs to the vehicle or taking the vehicle for servicing; and
• Preparing basic vehicle collision reports and completing daily operating reports.

Client Services

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate to the delivery of services or programs to clients, which mainly involves obtaining or providing information that may require explanation or clarification.

Communication Products

Examples of such functions include:

• Providing development and delivery of communications products;
• Researching, writing, proofreading or editing communications products (such as backgrounders, feature articles, complex documents, briefing notes, brochures);
• Co-ordinating the production of publications;
• Researching or analyzing topics or current issues and synthesizing a variety of information to produce
• communication products;
• Developing and implementing operational communications plans as they relate to communications products; and
• Evaluating documents and providing guidance to authors on matters of style, structure and terminology.

Communication Services – Advice and Oversight

Examples of such functions include:

• Providing direction and support to clients and colleagues on communication standards, policies, guidelines and procedures;
• Developing, implementing, evaluating or monitoring the effectiveness of communications plans or strategies;
• Providing strategic advice and services on communications matters; and
• Liaising with various stakeholders or government organizations.

Community or Intergovernmental Relations

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to the functions performed as part of relations with the following groups: municipal, provincial, territorial, federal governments or non-governmental organizations.

Examples of such functions are:

• Administering or delivering programs and services;
• Providing briefings, advice and recommendations to management;
• Managing and developing partnerships;
• Conducting consultations and negotiations or facilitating discussions;
  Leading or promoting consultation, collaboration and engagement with partners at various levels of
• government and with non-governmental organizations; and

Compensation and Benefits

Contract Award and Administration

Examples of such functions include:

• Providing advice and guidance on contracting and relevant regulatory matters;
• Seeking contract approval;
• Awarding the contract and publishing the appropriate notification, if required;
• Debriefing unsuccessful bidders;
• Monitoring and managing the time, cost, and performance of the contract, including ensuring compliance with all legislation, guidelines and policies;

Correspondence

Examples of such functions include:

• Preparing and co-ordinating briefing material, memoranda or important correspondence;
• Proofreading and editing correspondence, marking for correction and grammatical, typographical or compositional errors;
• Providing advice and guidance regarding the content and format of correspondence;
• Receiving, monitoring and tracking work progress in order to meet deadlines;
• Using a tracking and reporting system (such as the Ministerial and Executive Correspondence Tracking System or the Electronic Knowledge Management Environment) for official documents or briefing notes, etc., and providing information on the current status of files;
• Negotiating deadlines for receipt of documents with the responsible manager; and
• Applying the practices and procedures for managing and circulating sensitive and classified documents.

Emergency Planning or Security Services

Examples of such functions include:

• Developing and delivering corporate security, national security, business continuity and emergency preparedness policies, programs or procedures;
• Participating in inter-organizational or multi-jurisdictional projects;
• Managing crisis situations;
• Co-ordinating emergency related workplace services;
• Responding to and/or investigating security incidents;
• Conducting and writing threat and risk assessments related to security, and developing possible solutions;
• Performing risk analysis associated with business continuity planning or disaster recovery;
• Gathering, researching and evaluating security related information;
• Reviewing technical layouts and specifications for buildings with respect to security requirements;

Enforcement and/or Compliance

This code is appropriate where the qualifications relate to the enforcement and/or compliance of regulations or legislation in the areas of bankruptcy, competition law, workplace health and safety (e.g. Canada Labour Code, part II), telecommunications, patent, patent medicine and drug pricing or corrections, etc.

Examples of such functions include:

• Interpreting, enforcing or applying governing authorities (such as rules, legislation, procedures);
• Gathering information in an investigative setting or pressure situation;
• Reviewing documentation for compliance;
• Performing compliance inspections;
• Gathering and evaluating data and producing intelligence reports for law enforcement or regulatory organizations;
• Rendering decisions in a quasi-judicial or judicial process;
• Monitoring, assessing or enforcing compliance programs; and
• Working with partners and stakeholders to meet objectives.

Note: This is not to be used for qualifications related to policy development or the provision of advice on policies.

Event Planning and Co-ordination

Examples of such functions include:

• Co-ordinating and planning events with partners and stakeholders at a local, national or international level;
• Organizing exhibits, fairs or displays;
• Organizing and co-ordinating tours and visits for officials; and
• Planning and co-ordinating ministerial events (such as protocol visits, formal receptions, press conferences, hospitality events).

Executive Support Services

Examples of such functions include:

• Working with or in the office of a minister, deputy minister or assistant deputy minister;
• Co-ordinating and organizing appearances of ministers and senior officials before Parliamentary Committees;
• Co-ordinating legislative activities through Parliamentary Committees, the House of Commons or the Senate;
• Supporting the work of a senior executive;
• Providing strategic policy or operational advice, recommendations and guidance to senior executives, either verbally or in writing; and
• Providing parliamentary advice to senior executives via briefing notes, reports or strategic documents.

General Administrative Support and Services

This code is appropriate where the qualifications relate mainly to basic or general clerical or administrative support activities, such as:

• Data entry;
• Basic use of office equipment or systems;
• Filing;
• Reception;
• Mail services (such as incoming or outgoing mail, sorting or distribution of mail); and
• Basic client services (such as greeting clients or responding to general inquiries in person, over the phone or by e-mail).

General Procurement Services

Examples of such functions include:

• Processing procurement requests, expediting or receiving merchandise or tracking supplies;
• Reviewing and ensuring accuracy of procurement-related documents;
• Using computerized purchasing systems; and
• Providing advice and guidance on procurement procedures.

Health-related Services

Examples of such functions include:

• Working with specialized terminology related to the health field;
• Performing medical transcription;
• Maintaining medical records and correspondence;
• Using an electronic health information system;
• Providing advice, guidance or support related to the health field; and
• Delivering health-related programs or services.

Health and Safety Services

Examples of such functions include:

• Planning, developing, implementing and administering a health or safety program;
• Assisting with or conducting inspections or audits related to health and safety in order to ensure compliance;
• Participating in committees or working groups on health >and safety;
• Conducting research, gathering and analyzing data and preparing written communication or reports on health and safety concerns;
• Providing health and safety advice and guidance on the application and interpretation of Occupational Health and Safety-related legislation, policies and guidelines; and
• Developing and delivering training or awareness sessions related to health and safety.

Information Management

Examples of such functions include:

• Working with physical or electronic information management systems (such as RDIMS);
• Providing advice and guidance on information management, retention or disposition;
• Providing advice and guidance on practices and procedures related to the handling of protected or classified information;
• Managing paper records or electronic documents throughout the information management life cycle;
• Identifying and detailing information management requirements in consultation with client organizations; and
• Using and performing functional maintenance of enterprise-wide electronic document management systems or correspondence tracking systems.

Information Technology (IT) Support or Services

Examples of such functions include:

• Analyzing data or statistics, providing reports or providing strategic advice and recommendations on IT issues;
• Providing end-user support for different programs or software (such as Help Desk); and
• Soliciting, gathering, analyzing and documenting IT business requirements.

Intermediate Administrative Support and Services

This code is appropriate where the qualifications relate mainly to administrative support services of a more complex and diverse nature and that carry a higher level of responsibility.

Examples of such services could include all of those found in the general administrative support code, as well as:

• Making travel arrangements;
• Drafting routine correspondence;
• Responding to specific or complex inquiries;
• Creating and monitoring reports;
• Analyzing and interpreting information;
• Interpreting legislation, policies or directives;
• Implementing administrative procedures and/or processes;
• Interacting with internal or external clients;
• Managing a "bring forward" system;
• Transcribing recorded material (such as audio recordings); and
• Processing requests for goods and services (such as couriers, office supplies, translation services).

International Relations

Examples of such functions include:

• International relations (political, economic and cultural);
• International development;
• Humanitarian assistance;
• International public affairs management;
• International negotiations / negotiation of international treaties;
• International human rights issues;

Internet Support or Services

Examples of such functions include:

• Converting documents into html or xhtml;
• Posting information on intranet and Internet sites;
• Working with specialized software or programs (such as Dreamweaver);
• Creating or maintaining Web pages; and
• Creating requirements for Web tool updates and tool testing or verification.

Learning, Development and Facilitation

Examples of such functions include:

• Preparing and delivering presentations;
• Coaching or mentoring;
• Planning and conducting facilitation activities;
• Developing, structuring and delivering training;
• Providing advice and guidance on learning and development;
• Organizing logistics for workshops or learning events; and
• Developing, implementing and/or evaluating learning solutions and activities.

Management of Human and/or Financial Resources

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to the management of human and/or financial resources, and their related functions.

Examples of such functions include:

• Executing the role and responsibilities of a manager with regard to human resources activities such as planning, classification, staffing and labour relations (e.g. preparing a unit's human resources plan, developing a statement of merit criteria for a position to be staffed);
• Developing, implementing and assessing performance management, talent management or learning and development activities;
• Having fiscal responsibility for a unit's finances and/or budget;
• Having some contracting or purchasing responsibilities;
• Preparing, or participating in the preparation of operational plans and forecasts;
• Participating in the planning and co-ordination of an organization's workflow, which could include the creation of budgets for particular units, files or programs.

Media Relations

Examples of such functions include:

• Providing communication, public information and media relations services;
• Scanning, conducting research on, tracking or analyzing media issues and trends;
• Preparing summaries and analyses of media coverage;
• Planning, organizing or co-ordinating media relations activities and events (such as news conferences, ministerial events or announcements, media tours, program launches, marketing, outreach);
• Providing on-site communications support for senior officials or at ministerial or Member of Parliament events or announcements; and
• Acting as a media spokesperson by dealing with media and responding to inquiries.

Policy Development and Analysis

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate only to internal organizational or administrative policies.

Examples of such functions include:

• Researching, analysing and/or developing internal policies related to administration, programs or services;
• Assessing policy content against existing administrative or internal policies and making recommendations; and
• Providing advice and guidance on internal administrative or policy issues.

Procurement Planning

Examples of such functions include:

• Analyzing requirements, developing options and creating a business case with justifications;
• Seeking expenditure approval;
• Developing or reviewing statements of work (for services) or of specifications (for goods);
• Determining the method of supply and the sourcing strategy;
• Providing advice and guidance on all legislation, trade agreements, policies, strategies and guidelines, and ensuring that these are adhered to;
• Consulting with industry and clients in the development of procurement strategies as it pertains to analyzing and applying multiple evaluation criteria and selection methods;
• Preparing, initiating and closing solicitations (such as written bid solicitations, local purchase orders, call-ups against standing offers, instruments for submission to Public Works and Government Services Canada);

Program and Administrative Services – Other

This code is appropriate when the experience required cannot be related to any other code.

Organizations, in exceptional situations, can use this code when the experience required for a particular position cannot be related to any other code. Organizations must seek the assistance of a Public Service Commission Priority Entitlements Consultant prior to submitting such a request for priority clearance.

Priority persons must add this code to their profiles when they are being referred to groups within the Program and Administrative Services occupational category.

Program Management

Examples of such functions include:

• Developing and implementing programs, strategies or multiple associated projects;
• Providing oversight to support project-level activity to ensure that the overall program goals are met on a continuous basis;
• Identifying and managing cross-project dependencies, co-ordinating and prioritizing resources across projects, managing links between the projects and the overall costs and risks of the program;
• Planning, monitoring, reporting and incorporating program enhancements based on the monitoring function for ongoing activities;

Examples of such functions include:

• Creating clear and attainable project objectives, building project requirements and managing the cost, time and scope for the project;
• Being responsible for day-to-day direction; and

Property or Material Management

Examples of such functions include:

• Providing client-focused services;
• Analysing and providing advice on real property–related issues;
• Providing strategic management of assets;
• Ensuring tenant service project delivery;
• Ensuring minor or major project delivery in an occupied building;
• Managing occupancy instruments (such as lease agreements);
• Managing or operating a portfolio of real property, which could include one or more of the following types of inventory: office, process, retail, industrial or institutional;
• Preparing asset management plans, building condition reports, investment reports, building management plans, risk assessments or infrastructure continuity plans;

Examples of such functions include:

• Social media development;
• Working with outreach products linked to social media;
• Writing or developing social media or Web content;
• Using highly specialized on-line search engines, such as electronic media monitoring;
• Devising and using social media techniques for communications activities and initiatives;
• Integrating social media in the media mix;
• Providing advice and guidance on industry standards and government policies for social media; and
• Working with social media and collaboration tools, such as certain Web 2.0 tools and services that allow participants with distinct social/user profiles to create, share and interact with user-generated content, including text, images, video and audio (such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, blogs) as well as collaborative technologies that allow multiple users to collaboratively create content (such as wikis, Google Docs).

Supervision

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly, and on an ongoing and continuous basis, to many of the following examples:

• Supervising people and/or leading a team;
• Approving leave;
• Setting objectives, evaluating performance and addressing performance issues;
• Assigning and managing work in order to meet set objectives or goals;
• Handling simple labour relations matters;
• Providing operational direction in order to meet set objectives or goals;
• Coaching, tutoring or mentoring staff.

Law/Economics and Social Sciences HR Management

Accounting

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to higher-level activities than simple accounts payable and/or receivable or bookkeeping.

Examples of experience, certification and/or education required may include:

• Performing accounting and financial transactions; and
• Delivering accounting advice and/or services to federal government clients.

Archivist

Examples of such functions include:

• Appraising, acquiring, arranging, describing and specialized referencing of archival information;
• Researching using archival/historical sources;
• Providing reference services within the Canadian archives or Canadian libraries network or in museum activities; and
• Researching using aids and research tools or guides for different collections, archives or libraries.

Note: Archivists acquire, manage and maintain documents and other materials such as books, papers, maps, plans, photographs, prints, films and computer-generated records.

Audit and Evaluation

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate to auditing and evaluation activities, including financial and non-financial.

Examples of such activities are:

• Analyzing and reporting on data;
• Presenting audit findings;
• Planning, organizing, conducting and monitoring audit and/or evaluation activities;
• Using a computerized tracking system and/or database;
• Contributing to or preparing project, program or business audit or evaluation reports and making recommendations; and
• Providing advice and guidance on auditing policies, methodologies and standards.

Note: The code could also be used when the requirements of the position ask for education, certification or training in this field.

Commerce Officer – Other

This code is appropriate for commerce officer (CO) positions where the experience required cannot be related to any other code. In general, CO activities include the planning, development, delivery and management of economic development policies, programs, services and other activities designed to promote the establishment, growth and improvement of industry, commerce and export trade and the regulation of trade and commerce.

Organizations, in exceptional situations, can use this code when the experience required for a particular position cannot be related to any other code. Organizations must seek the assistance of a Public Service Commission Priority Entitlements Consultant prior to submitting such a request for priority clearance.

Persons with a priority entitlement must add this code to their profiles when they are being referred to the CO group.

Course Development

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly the development of course materials, lesson plans, learning objectives, learning outcomes, etc.

Examples of such functions include:

• Planning, designing and evaluating training programs and/or courses;
• Advising on programs, products or tools developed in the field of adult learning;
• Managing complex training projects; and
• Evaluation of training material.

Note: This code is not appropriate for teaching. There are other codes for those areas: Teaching and language teaching.

Data Research or Statistical Analysis

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to the analysis, study and/or creation of data or statistics.

Examples of such functions include:

• Researching, collecting, analyzing and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data;
• Using advanced statistical, data analysis and research methods;
• Conducting statistical analysis and research;
• Using statistical software such as SPS, SAS etc.; and
• Performing database analysis.

Enforcement and/or Compliance

This code is appropriate where the qualifications relate to the enforcement and/or compliance of regulations or legislation in the areas of bankruptcy, competition law, workplace health and safety (e.g. Canada Labour Code, part II), telecommunications, patent, patent medicine and drug pricing or corrections, etc.

Examples of such functions include:

Aboriginal Content

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to programs and/or policies in support of the following Aboriginal groups: First Nations, Métis or Inuit.

Examples of such functions include:

• Working with or in Aboriginal communities;
• Working with Aboriginal organizations or programs;
• Providing advice and recommendations on Aboriginal affairs;
• Advising, consulting and/or collaborating with Aboriginal leaders, administrators or communities;
• Coordinating and leading meetings, presentations and/or workshops with Aboriginal groups; and

Agriculture –General

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to activities, programs and/or policies related to agriculture.

Examples of such functions include:

Architecture

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to architecture.

Examples of such functions include:

• Building and/or infrastructure planning, design, construction;
• Creating original designs, architectural plans and specifications for projects;
• Providing a full range of architectural services through all stages of project delivery;
• Providing investigation and design services; and
• Applying heritage conservation standards and guidelines in the context of projects and project reviews.

Aviation-Related Activities

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to activities, programs and/or policies related to aviation.

Examples of experience, certification and/or education required may include:

• Conducting safety compliance audits, inspections and surveillance of aircraft, equipment facilities and approved manuals;
• Evaluating and approving or rejecting applications from companies and individuals for certificates of approval to conduct aircraft maintenance, manufacturing, training and aeronautical product distribution;

Construction

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to activities, programs and/or policies related to construction.

Examples of such functions include:

• Managing construction consultant teams and construction contractors;
• Managing construction project financial resources;
• Managing the design, material selection and specifications for construction projects; and
• Providing advice and guidance related to, and preparation of, documentation for effective contracting, requesting proposals and invitations to tender for construction.

Database

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to activities, programs and/or policies related to databases.

Examples of such functions include:

• Designing and administering databases;
• Maintaining a database; and
• Ensuring database backup, recovery, performance monitoring, upgrade and tuning.

Drafting

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to activities, programs and/or policies related to drafting.

Examples of such functions include:

• Architectural and engineering design drafting;
• Producing preliminary and/or final architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical and/or civil engineering drawings in support of the construction and/or maintenance projects;
• Designing drafts using Autodesk, AutoCAD or other drafting software; and
• Conducting and participating on-site visits to measure and update site data, floor plans and drawings.

Electrical or Electronic Technician

Electrical and electronics technicians may work independently or provide technical support and services in the design, development, testing, production and operation of electrical and electronic equipment and systems.

Examples of such functions include:

• Designing, developing and testing power equipment and systems, industrial process control systems, telecommunication, broadcast, recording and audiovisual systems, micro-electronic systems and circuits, computers, computer systems and networks, and computer software;
• Conducting the installation, commissioning, and operation of electrical and electronic equipment and systems other than aircraft electronics or instruments;
• Carrying out applied research in fields of electrical and electronic engineering and physics under the direction of scientists or engineers;
• Setting up and operate specialized and standard test equipment to diagnose, test and analyze the performance of electrical and electronic components, assemblies and systems;
• Writing specifications, schedules and technical reports and control schedules and budgets;
• Assisting in the design, development and testing of electrical and electronic components, equipment, and systems;
• Assisting in inspection, testing, adjusting and evaluation of incoming electrical, electro-mechanical and electronic components and assemblies to ensure conformance with product specifications and tolerances;

Examples of such functions include:

• Gathering information in an investigative setting or pressure situation;
• Reviewing documentation for compliance;

Organizations must seek the assistance of a Public Service Commission Priority Entitlements Consultant prior to submitting such a request for priority clearance.

Persons with a priority entitlement must add this code to their profiles when they are being referred to groups within Engineering - Computer Systems - IT - Technical categories.

• Analyzing, developing and/or implementing policies related to geomatics/GIS;
• College diploma\certificate or university degree in the field of geomatics or GIS;
• Updating Web-based GIS applications;
• Using the ArcGIS suite of tools to manage geospatial datasets, perform spatial analysis and produce map products;
• Developing and implementing quality assurance procedures for the maintenance of spatial and non-spatial source data, including databases and geodatabases;
• Developing Internet-based GIS applications; and
• Collecting, integrating, analyzing and documenting geospatial data.

Graphic Design

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to graphic design.

Examples of such functions include:

• Designing, developing, editing and/or providing advice on communications, marketing and/or training products (such as graphic and photographic layouts, Web sites, exhibit products, print publications, visual aids, presentations, videos, etc.);
• Editing videos and/or photos;
• Using social media platforms;
• Using AutoCAD;

Help Desk

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to activities, programs and/or policies related to providing end-user support for different programs and/or software.

Hydrology

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to activities, programs and/or policies related to hydrology.

Examples of such functions include:

• Computing of hydrometric data to national standards;
• Working in hydrometric operations;
• Participating in hydographic field surveys;
• Flood forecasting;
• Working as part of a team on environmental programs or projects; and
• Conducting environmental sampling of media such as storm water, drinking water, waste water.

Interior Designer

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to activities, programs and/or policies related to interior design.

Examples of such functions include:

• Delivering and managing of minor construction projects in government office space;
• Experience in using CAD or similar software;
• Front-end project planning, including activities and projects stages such as needs analysis, functional programming, feasibility studies and other interior design tasks;
• Working on a multidisciplinary team of in-house resources and consultants in the delivery of interior design projects; and
• Preparing scopes of work and fee proposals for in-house design, functional programming and/or design advisory services for projects.

Laboratory Technologist

This code is appropriate for positions where the qualifications required relate mainly to being a laboratory technologist.

This code is appropriate where the qualifications required relate mainly to the management of human and/or financial resources and their related functions.

Examples of such functions include:

• Executing the roles and responsibilities of a manager with regard to human resources activities such as planning, classification, staffing and labour relations (e.g. preparing a unit's human resources plan, developing a statement of merit criteria for a position to be staffed);
• Developing, implementing and assessing performance management, talent management or learning and development activities;

Examples of such functions include:
