Requesting test administration services when your candidate needs accommodation

Information for federal public service hiring managers and HR specialists on:

  • requesting test administration services for a second language test administered by the Public Service Commission when your candidate needs accommodation measures
  • following up if you haven’t received a test date through a test centre
  • requesting assessment accommodations for unsupervised internet tests of reading comprehension and written expression for levels B and C

Request test administration services

Complete the online request for test administration services in the Public Service Commission’s Second Language Evaluation – Scheduling System (SLE-SS) (accessible only on the Government of Canada network).

Be sure to indicate that accommodation will be required. The request for accommodation will be transferred to the assessment accommodation team.

If you have questions regarding the administration of tests at Public Service Commission test centres, contact a regional office (accessible only on the Government of Canada network).

If the test will be administered in a regional Public Service Commission test centre, you’ll receive a report of the test accommodation recommendations that you must send to the candidate for their feedback. The report will also be sent to the test centre. Within 48 hours of receiving them, the test centre will contact your department or agency to set up a service agreement. Once the service agreement is signed and sent to the test centre, the test material will be ordered.

The test centre will contact your department or agency within 10 working days of receiving the test material to confirm a testing date.

Let your candidates know they can visit second language evaluation in the public service web page for information and tips to prepare for testing.

Important note: Personnel Psychology Centre accommodation consultants do not schedule second language evaluation tests. Please do not contact the author of the accommodation report about scheduling these tests.
