Best practices for assessment strategies
Participants: Human resources advisors and hiring managers
Objective: This half-day workshop deals with best practices and professional advice for maximizing the use of assessment tools.
Topics
- How to target qualifications which set a solid foundation for inclusive and effective assessment;
- Fundamental assessment principles and basic assessment terminology;
- Benefits and drawbacks of the most commonly used assessment tools;
- Effective assessment strategies, based on the skills being assessed and the variety of tools available.
Participants will take part in hands-on exercises during the workshop and will receive documents that include the following:
- Example of a skills assessment grid, based on assessment tools;
- Confidentiality agreement to limit information exchange among applicants; and
- Guidelines for administering tests.

Registration
To register, complete the Participant Registration Form (Available to federal public servants only).
Sessions require a minimum of five participants with a maximum of 12 seats available per session.
The cost per participant is $150.
If the number of participants exceeds 12 per session, a waiting list will be created for an additional session to take place in the months to come.
