Forced Labour in Supply Chains of the Electronics Industry

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) is hosting a series of webinars to raise awareness on the risks of human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour in supply chains. Through these webinars we aim to highlight best practices and facilitate ongoing dialogue with the supplier community. This is the first event of the series.

Electronics supply chains are complex and at high risk of exposure to forced labour and human rights abuses. Suppliers are invited to learn about electronics industry supply chains, the various risks of forced labour they contain, and mitigation and remediation strategies for businesses.

As the Government of Canada’s central provider of digital services, Shared Services Canada (SSC), along with PSPC, plays a key role in procuring electronic equipment. As part of an on-going collaboration to protect human rights in electronics supply chains, PSPC and SSC have contracted the services of Electronics Watch to share their expertise in this session. Electronics Watch is a reputable non-governmental organization that helps public buyers work together to promote and protect the rights of workers in their supply chains.

In preparation for the webinar, participants are invited to email their questions regarding risks of forced labour and human rights violations, and their mitigation and remediation, to SPAC.PAAchatsEthiques-APEthicalProcurement.PSPC@tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca. These questions will be addressed by the Electronics Watch experts during the webinar.

Who is this for?

This webinar is for businesses supplying electronics goods to the federal government and or considering bidding. Electronics goods cover a broad spectrum of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) hardware products, which rely on electronic components to serve various consumer and industry needs.
