What does the cannabis excise stamp mean for cultivators, producers and packagers of cannabis products?

Transcript

You’re part of a brand-new industry in Canada.

Legal, controlled production, distribution and sale of cannabis for medical and non-medical purposes is now a reality.

With opportunity comes responsibility.

All cannabis cultivators, processors, and packagers must obtain a licence from the Canada Revenue Agency.

And, if you package product, you must purchase and affix the cannabis excise stamp on every package of cannabis product you prepare for sale.

Each province and territory has a different coloured excise stamp. The stamp that you affix to your product must match the province or territory where the product will be sold.

It shows that you’re licensed and meeting your tax obligations.

The stamp, clearly displayed on every package you prepare for sale, will also increase distributor AND consumer confidence in your product because they will know the product is legal.

The cannabis excise stamp – your mark of certainty.
