About your profile – CRA account help - Businesses

The profile within My Business Account contains information about your business, including contact details, direct deposit information, and communication preferences. It is important to keep your business information complete and up to date.

What you can update in your profile

You can update the information found in your profile by selecting the links available for each information type.

Addresses

Select Manage addresses to change a business address.

Direct deposit

Select Manage direct deposits to start, update, or stop direct deposit for each of your program accounts.

Program account names

Select Manage program account names to edit or delete program account names.

Operating names

Select Manage operating names to change, add, or delete an operating name.

Phone numbers

Select Manage phone numbers to update owner phone numbers.

Notification preferences (add or remove email)

Select Manage notification preferences to add or remove email addresses to receive notifications when eligible correspondence is available in your account or important changes are made on your account.

Mail delivery method

Select Manage mail for my business to choose whether you want to receive your business mail online or by mail.

Authorized representatives

Select Deleted/expired representative list to view deleted and expired representatives that were acting on your behalf during the last 365 days.

Select Confirm pending requests to confirm or deny electronic authorization requests submitted by representatives. You must confirm or deny requests within 10 business days or the request will be cancelled.

Select View authorized representatives to view representatives currently authorized to act on your behalf, add a new representative, or cancel authorization.

Business numbers

Select Manage business number(s) to add or remove a business from your account.

If you have more than one business, choose the one you want to appear as the default in the Overview page.

Language preferences

Select Manage language preferences to choose the default language for each program account.

Security settings

Changes to the following settings affect your CRA account overall and are not specific to My Business Account:

To update these security settings:

  1. Select Continue to settings to access the welcome page
  2. Select Security settings on the top right below the page title
  3. Select the Continue button associated with the setting you want to update

Changes outside of your profile

To notify us of changes related to growing your business or changes to business operations, refer to Maintain your business.

To update certain reporting and tax options related to GST/HST, such as changing your fiscal year or reporting period (monthly, quarterly or yearly), you must file an election. To view your current elections in My Business Account, choose GST/HST, select your RT number to view your GST/HST program account overview, then choose the Reporting periods and other tax options (elections) tab.
