Access your business information online
To access your business information online, you need to link your Social Insurance Number (SIN) to your business number (BN) and add your BN to your CRA account.
Once set up, you can view and manage your program accounts, and authorize representatives using My Business Account in your CRA account.
Security measures for accessing business information
Only owners, partners, or directors whose name and SIN are on file with the CRA have the authority to:
- Access the business information
- Make changes to the business
- Add representatives
- Access My Business Account
How to add your SIN to your CRA business account
If the SIN of an owner, partner, or director has not been provided to the CRA, you can add it to your BN in one of the following ways:
Add your SIN online
An owner, partner, or director can add their SIN when adding their BN to their CRA account.
To add your SIN:
- Sign in to your CRA account.
- On the Welcome page, select +Add account
- Select Business Account, then Add existing business number(BN)
- Read and accept the My Business Account Terms and Conditions, if prompted
- Enter your
9-digit business number - Answer Yes or No to the question: "Have you filed a GST/HST return or a T2 Corporation income tax return?" Then select Submit
- If Yes, enter the requested information from your assessed return
- Important: If you select No, you can only link your SIN if your BN was registered within the last 28 days.
If your information matches CRA records and validation is successful, your SIN will be automatically linked to your BN and your BN will be added to your CRA account.
Requests submitted through Represent a Client, fax, or mail, must be dated and signed by the owner, partner, or director asking the CRA to add their SIN to the business account.
Submit a request through Represent a Client
A representative can upload a signed request using the Submit documents service in the Represent a Client portal of their CRA account.
Fax your request
An owner, partner, director, or representative can fax a signed request to the business's tax centre:
- Prince Edward Island Tax Centre: 1-833-724-7237
- Sudbury Tax Centre: 1-855-276-1529
