Additional EI regular benefits for unemployed workers in affected regions: do you qualify?
EI Additional Weeks – Decision Tree
Text description of decision tree
Did you/do you have a claim for benefits starting January 4th, 2015 or later and did you receive at least one week of regular benefits?
- If not, you are not eligible for additional EI benefits.
- If you did, and you can answer yes to the next question you may be eligible for additional EI benefits.
Was your EI claim made while living in one of the 15 economic regions (See map)?
- If you answered no, you are not eligible for additional EI benefits.
- If you answered yes, you may be eligible for additional EI benefits.
If you are currently receiving EI benefits for that claim, extra weeks will be automatically added to your claim. (You can verify the status of your claim online on My Service Canada Account).
If your benefits have ended and you’re still unemployed, go to Internet Reporting Service or Telephone Reporting Service to see when reports are due. If no report is available to submit you will need to re-apply for benefits. You could be eligible for additional weeks of EI regular benefits.
Dial the toll-free number: 1-800-531-7555, to access the Telephone Reporting Service.
