How we calculate your Guaranteed Income Supplement
The amount of your Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) depends on different factors, such as:
- Your marital status
- Your income from the previous year
- If you have a spouse/common-law partner, your combined income

| I have a spouse or common-law partner who receives the full OAS pension. | Less than $29,712 (combined annual income of couple) | up to $667.41 |
| I have a spouse/common-law partner who receives the Allowance. | Less than $41,616 (combined annual income of couple) | up to $667.41 |
| I have a spouse or common-law partner who does not receive an OAS pension or Allowance. | Less than $53,904 (combined annual income of couple) | up to $1,108.74 |
The maximum amounts are not guaranteed. Your actual payment amount may be different depending on your income.
Adjustments that increase payment amounts
Cost of living increases: Each January, April, July, and October pension amounts are increased to reflect any increases in the cost of living. Pension amounts do not decrease if the cost of living goes down.
