Wednesday, November 19
- Canada has co-signed a joint commitment to take action on black carbon pollutants which contributes significantly to global warming
- As part of this informal working group, Action on Black Carbon will aim to drive scalable, high-impact black carbon reductions based on flexible, country-driven approaches and actions
- The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) announced the launch of the South-South Knowledge Hub for country platforms to promote low-carbon development in countries such as South Africa, Bangladesh, and Brazil
- The Knowledge Hub will work with countries to support global knowledge and exchange networks to strengthen Southern research institutions’ influence
- Canada is supporting the Knowledge Hub by providing a $2-million contribution to IDRC
- Canada announced new endorsements of the Kananaskis Wildfire Charter by Andorra, Chile, Costa Rica, Norway, Peru, Türkiye, and Spain, further strengthening global commitment to preventing, responding to, and recovering from wildfires
Monday, November 17
- News release: Canada advances carbon markets, methane reductions, clean energy partnerships, and international adaptation at COP30
- The Global Methane Status Report, released by the Climate and Clean Air Coalition, shows that while global methane emissions are still increasing, they are growing more slowly since the Global Methane Pledge was launched
- The report projects a 10 percent slower growth rate by 2030 and highlights both the progress achieved, and the urgent need for countries to fully implement available measures to drive faster and deeper reductions
- The Powering Past Coal Alliance (PPCA) welcomed new members the Republic of Korea, Bahrain and Guatemala and also launched a “Plan to Accelerate Coal Transitions (PDF)” that will help guide countries in making the switch from coal to clean power
- Canada endorsed the Global Clean Power Alliance Supply Chains Mission Vision:
- the Supply Chains Mission is a UK-led collaboration among countries and international organizations to help foster the development of secure, resilient and diverse supply chains needed to deliver the clean energy transition
- Canada endorsed the Bioeconomy Challenge, a multistakeholder platform focused on translating the G20 Bioeconomy High-Level Principles on Bioeconomy into concrete actions

- Canada endorsed thePublic-Private Implementation Statement on Creating Demand for Low-Emissions Hydrogen and Its Derivatives in Lead Markets
- Launched by the International Hydrogen Trade Forum (IHTF) under the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM), the statement aims to maintain global momentum behind hydrogen market development and stimulate demand for low-emissions hydrogen

- IMEO’s mission to reduce methane emissions through open, reliable, and actionable data aligns with Canada’s Climate Competitiveness Strategy and Canada’s global leadership in reducing methane waste, including as champions of the Global Methane Pledge

- News Release: Canada affirms Indigenous leadership and global climate action at the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30)
- Canada endorsed Drastically Reducing Methane Emissions in the Fossil Fuel Sector, a statement led by the United Kingdom and supported by several countries and energy organizations to demonstrate a shared commitment to reaching near zero methane emissions in the fossil fuel sector
- As co-convener of the Global Methane Pledge, Minister Dabrusin joined an event hosted by Montréal-based GHGSat, showcasing Canada’s leadership in cutting methane emissions
- Minister Dabrusin signed a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding with Brazil’s Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, Minister Silva, on Integrated Fire Management
- This agreement follows Canada’s endorsement of Brazil’s Call to Action on Integrated Fire Management and Wildfire Resilience to strengthen international cooperation on emergency preparedness and response, building on the G7 Kananaskis Wildfire Charter
