Around 3 out of 4 opioid-related deaths are men and those in trades are more impacted by substance use and addiction than in other industries. It takes strength to ask for help.

Ease the Burden: Helping men in trades who are impacted by substance use

Addiction and overdoses impact our industry more than others. Since 2016, around 3 out of 4 opioid-related deaths were men and 30-50% of those employed worked in trades at the time of their death.

Working in trades can come with pain, injury and stress, which can lead to using substances to cope. Some avoid asking for help because they fear being judged. It takes strength to ask for help. We can help ease the burden.

Together, we can reduce stigma and ensure men in trades feel safe and supported to ask for help if they are struggling. See what you can do at Canada.ca/Ease-The-Burden
