The eight rights we uphold
The Taxpayer Bill of Rights has 16 rights that describe the treatment you are entitled to when you deal with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Our Office is responsible for ensuring the CRA respects eight of these 16 rights.
We are mandated to uphold rights 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, and 15.
You have the right to be treated professionally, courteously, and fairly [by the CRA]. Learn more
You have the right to complete, accurate, clear, and timely information. Learn more
You have the right to lodge a service complaint and to be provided with an explanation of [the CRA's] findings. Learn more
You have the right to have the costs of compliance taken into account when administering tax legislation. Learn more
You have the right to expect [the CRA] to publish [its] service standards and report annually. Learn more
You have the right to expect [the CRA] to warn you about questionable tax schemes in a timely manner. Learn more
