Alternative to the experience requirements in the Parliamentary Documents field
There is high demand in the Parliamentary Documents field, and suppliers have difficulty meeting these experience requirements in the request for supply arrangements (RFSA) and thus qualify in this field.
The Translation Bureau is offering an alternative to the experience requirement. This alternative includes:
- an information session
- a qualifying exam
Information session and exam details
- Format: online
- Cost: free
- Duration:
- 1 half day for the information session
- 2 to 3 hours for the exam, held about 1 week after the information session
Number of participants
- If your translation team consists of more than 1 person, all team members are encouraged to attend the information session
- Only 1 individual per team will be able to take the exam
- The Translation Bureau reserves the right to limit spots based on capacity
Before you register
Before registering for the information session, consult the RFSA to make sure that you are able to satisfy the other criteria.
After attending the information session and passing the exam, you will have to:
- satisfy these other criteria
- enter into a supply arrangement (SA)
Once the above requirements have been satisfied, you can then provide the Bureau with translation services.
How to register
To register:
- email btformation.tbtraining@tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca
- use the subject line “Information session and exam for suppliers in the Parliamentary Documents field”
Include the following information in your email:
- the name of your firm
- the number of people who will be attending the information session
- the name of the person who will sit the exam
- your language combination (English to French, French to English, or both)
- the language in which you would like to take the sessions
The Translation Bureau will then contact you with the dates and times of the next sessions.
Requesting security clearance
Suppliers themselves cannot request security clearance. The Translation Bureau will initiate the process according to operational needs.
