Requesting security clearance
As a linguistic services supplier for the Translation Bureau, you cannot request security clearance for yourself. The Translation Bureau will initiate the process according to operational needs.
For more information, contact the Translation Bureau.
Finding invitations to tender
The Translation Bureau cannot guarantee any amount of work for:
- suppliers with a SA (translation in official languages)
- suppliers registered in its directory (translation in Indigenous languages or foreign languages; interpretation in official languages, Indigenous languages, foreign languages or sign languages; or terminology).
The amount of work available depends on the Bureau’s operational needs.
When the Bureau needs private sector linguistic services suppliers, it sends an invitation to tender by email to suppliers with an SA or to suppliers registered in its directory.
For high-volume contracts, the Bureau may also post calls for tender on the Tender opportunities – CanadaBuys webpage.
Suppliers located outside Canada
Most of our bid solicitations are limited to Canadian services as defined in the Archived - Canadian content definition (clause A3050T).
If you are a foreign languages translation supplier, consider this requirement if you expect to be outside Canada when the work is done. You will be invited to bid only:
- when there are fewer than 3 suppliers of Canadian services in our suppliers directory that meet our selection criteria
- when the work to be done is not subject to security requirements
For more information, refer to the following:
