Additional Provinces Terminate Affiliation with CPA Canada
Date: March 25, 2026
To: Heads of Human Resources Directors / Chiefs of Labour Relations and Compensation, and Public Service Pay Centre
This is further to the bulletin issued on December 13, 2024, which remains in effect. As previously announced, CPA Ontario and Ordre des CPA du Québec (CPA Québec) formally ended their affiliation with Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) as of December 20, 2024.
Effective April 1, 2026, the provincial accounting bodies in Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island will implement the same change as CPA Ontario and CPA Québec.
As noted in the aforementioned bulletin, membership with CPA Canada is optional. Accordingly, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat does not support the reimbursement of CPA Canada membership fees for the provinces no longer affiliated with CPA Canada.
Membership with the applicable provincial CPA regulatory body remains mandatory. Departments will continue to reimburse provincial regulatory body membership fees in accordance with the collective agreements.
For more details on the changes to CPA membership structures, consult the provincial accounting bodies or CPA Canada websites.
