PSDCP Language of Preference with Insurer - Update

Date: January 22, 2018

To: Compensation Managers, Heads of Human Resources

Update:

The purpose of this notice is to inform you of a change in the process for members of the Public Service Dental Care Plan (PSDCP) to update their language of preference with Great-West Life (GWL). GWL will only use the language of preference reported in the PSDCP eligibility file in their correspondence with plan members.

Great-West Life will only amend a member’s language of preference when it is reported via the bi-weekly eligibility file. The language of preference reported in the eligibility file is taken from the Human Resources System. Members who contact GWL with a language of preference change request will be instructed to contact their departmental Human Resources.

PSDCP claim forms were updated in 2014 to no longer include the language of preference option. Should a plan member use an outdated PSDCP claim form that includes the language of preference option to submit a claim, GWL will not update the member’s language of preference in their systems. GWL will continue to use the language of preference as reported on the bi-weekly eligibility file. Similarly, a different language used to submit a claim through GroupNet will not alter the language used by GWL in their response to the member.

Departments and organizations are asked to inform employees of this procedural change.
