PSHCP New Employer Contribution Rates Effective June 1, 2013

Date:

To: Compensation ManagersHeads of Human Resources; Participating Separate Employers; Pay/pension system administrators

The purpose of this notice is to inform you that effective the monthly employer contribution rates for the Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP) will decrease. The PSHCP employee/pensioner contribution rates will remain unchanged at this time.

System administrators are already aware of this change and programming is being completed to ensure the new employer amount appears in May 2013 cheques. The impact of this change will mainly affect members on Leave Without Pay (LWOP) who are required to remit both the employee and employer share of the PSHCP contributions, along with some participating separate employers who also remit both shares.

Reminder: The portion of the PSHCP contribution rate paid by the employer is a taxable benefit for members residing in Quebec. It is, therefore, recommended that these members be informed of this change. LWOP members and those on off-season status should also be notified of this contribution rate change.

Should you have any questions regarding this notice, please contact the Pensions and Benefits Sector at Contact Pensions and Benefits Sector by E-mail : pbs-spas@tbs-sct.gc.ca.
