Subject to the approval of the Treasury Board, to supplement other appropriations and to provide for miscellaneous, urgent or unforeseen expenditures not otherwise provided for, including grants and contributions not listed in the Estimates and the increase of the amount of grants listed in these, where those expenditures are within the legal mandate of a government organization, and authority to reuse any sums allotted and repaid to this appropriation from other appropriations.

Funding for the Canadarm3 robotic system

The Treasury Board approved an allocation of up to $100,000,000 to the Canadian Space Agency to provide for a seamless continuance of the Canadarm3 project. These funds will eliminate the impacts of project interruption and delays, thereby avoiding additional costs.

Department of Employment and Social Development

Funding for the Supports for Student Learning Program (Budget 2024)

This allocation allowed the Department of Employment and Social Development to make a timely payment under the Pathways to Education Canada Grant. Pathways is part of the Supports for Student Learning Program, and these funds are directed to various services such as academic (tutoring), social (mentoring) and financial supports to facilitate completion of high school and entry into post-secondary education or training for students that may be facing barriers to education.

Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development

Funding to support the international security assistance efforts in Haiti

The Treasury Board approved an allocation of up to $33,810,342 to the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development to permit timely payments to the United Nations Trust Fund for Haiti under the Grants in support of the Peace and Stabilization Operations Program. The Trust Fund is the primary financial support to the Multinational Security Support Mission, which aids the Haitian National Police in their attempts to re-establish security in Haiti to create an environment in which free and fair elections may take place. The Trust Fund payments help cover costs such as salaries, equipment, training, food, water, sanitation services, and medical support.

Privy Council Office

Funding to enhance the security posture and support the National Security Council (Budget 2024)

The Treasury Board approved an allocation of up to $5,274,494 to the Privy Council Office to enhance its security posture on a timely basis. A portion of this funding is also intended to address workload pressures associated with a recently established Cabinet Committee, the National Security Council.
