Notice to all members of the Canadian Armed Forces regarding the request to the Office of the Pay Equity Commissioner to extend the deadline to post a final pay equity plan

On August 29, 2024, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS), on behalf of Treasury Board as the employer for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), filed a request to the federal Pay Equity Commissioner to extend the deadline to post a final pay equity plan for members of the CAF. On October 22, 2024, the Pay Equity Commissioner granted the requested extension of 2 years. This means that the final pay equity plan will be posted by the extended deadline of August 31, 2026. A pay equity committee will be responsible for developing the pay equity plan on behalf of the approximately 90,000 CAF members through a collaborative approach.

TBS and CAF are committed to proactively redressing systemic gender-based discrimination in pay practices through pay equity implementation so that women receive equal pay for work of equal value.
