Understand your responsibilities as a beacon owner or operator
Beacon owners/operators are required to:
Register all Canadian coded 406 MHz beacons that they own/operate in the CBR.
Re-validate their CBR information every 12 months, even if there are no changes.
Update their CBR information as soon as possible when information changes.
Bring their beacon to an authorized dealer to have the battery replaced by a certified technician. Beacon users should never attempt to replace the batteries themselves.
Dispose of beacons as per local disposal regulations, including removing the batteries, to prevent false alerts. Beacon owners should consult their user manual or the manufacturer for assistance with removing the battery.
Contact the CBR to advise of the purchase, sale, export or loan of any Canadian coded 406 MHz beacon. Contact the CBR to report stolen or lost beacons.
