2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group Headquarters and Signal Squadron

AUDACIA ET FORTITUDO

"Strength and courage"

A Headquarters (HQ) is formed by various components of command, from planning to execution. The Headquarters and Signals Squadron (HQ & Sig Sqn) is the backbone of the HQ. The HQ & Sig Sqn establish the physical components of the HQ and its communication capabilities. It establishes, operates, defends, extends its reach and if necessary, moves it. The HQ & Sig Sqn provide the environment and physical ability of control so that HQ can focus on the big picture, command.

The 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (2 CMBG) Headquarters requires a system by which to maintain command and control over the formation. The 2 CMBG HQ & Sig Sqn provides just that.

Since the formation of the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals on October 24, 1903, the field of communications and electronics has evolved in regards to both what they do and what they use. The rapid evolution of technologies and the need to communicate quickly is as relevant in a tactical environment as it is at home. Signal officers and soldiers are expected to keep their knowledge up-to-date to maintain the competitive edge of armed forces.

The HQ & Sig Sqn deploys Land Command Support System, consisting of audio and video devices, radio, landlines, line of sight and beyond line of sight, whether it be to provide constant communication to members on the ground or to share a common operating picture to our allies overseas.
