As the Functional Centre of Excellence (FCoE), the Influence Activities Task Force’s (IATF) mission is to promote, enable, and synchronize Influence Activities (IA) capabilities in support of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) across the full spectrum of operations.

IATF provides stewardship for capability development and for the preparation of personnel in both Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) and Psychological Operation (PSYOPS) training.

It also ensures the presence of an operationally viable and relevant influence capability while ensuring that its personnel are ready to support CAF deployments at any time and in and anywhere.

When you join the IATF, you will receive exciting opportunities to learn new skills, which can be transferred to civilian life. There are opportunities to attend several course, exercises, and deployments.

As a high readiness member of the Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) or Non-combatant Evacuation Operations (NEO) team you will maintain a high standard of individual training and have a chance to attend interesting exercises with the 1st Canadian Division (1 Can Div) Headquarters (HQ). Should the Government of Canada (GoC) decide to deploy CAF to assist or evacuate civilians, you’ll be expected to deploy on short notice.

Through IATF you may have opportunities to be exposed to planning and decision making at the highest levels. IATF supports several international exercises and training activities. You may have opportunities to participate in training with the US Marines and Special Forces as well as other NATO partners across Europe.

The Influence Activities Task Force (IATF) was created following the contribution of the Psychological Operations and Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) elements during the Afghanistan Campaign. In order to preserve skill-sets and corporate knowledge, the IATF was established in August 2010. In 2013, it was given the additional mandate to provide a standing, high-readiness IA capability. In recent years, IATF has deployed personnel on numerous operations and exercises supporting the full spectrum of operations.
