New – National Monument to Canada's Mission in Afghanistan

The Department of Canadian Heritage, on behalf of the Government of Canada, is inviting teams of professional artists, landscape architects, architects, and other urban design professionals to submit their credentials and examples of prior work for the first part of a two-phase competition to design and build a national monument dedicated to Canada's mission in Afghanistan to be located in Canada's Capital.

The National Monument to Canada's Mission in Afghanistan will serve as a testament to the commitment and sacrifice of Canadian Armed Forces members, police officers, public servants and civilians who served in Canada's mission in Afghanistan. The Monument will also recognize the strong support offered by Canadians at home to those who served during the mission.

New – Pre-Qualified Artwork Inventory for Outdoor Exhibits and Major Events

The Department of Canadian Heritage is seeking professional Canadian artists who work with large-scale outdoor format sculptures, including interactive and light installations, in order to showcase Canadian artistic excellence through temporary outdoor exhibits in Canada's Capital Region at highly visible locations in downtown Ottawa and Gatineau and installations for major events.

Canadian Heritage is inviting artists to submit up to three existing three-dimensional artworks to be retained as part of a pre-qualified artwork inventory for long-term exhibits and major events. This inventory will remain active from January 2020 to December 2021, with a possibility of a one-year extension. Once the artworks are pre-qualified, one or more may be selected for exhibition as part of a major event held in Canada's capital or as an autonomous installation for an extended duration.

The Request for Qualifications will close on January 7, 2020.
