Creative Export Canada
Labour disruptions impact at Canadian Heritage
The Government of Canada and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) have reached a tentative agreement, ending the strike affecting many public service members. There may still be some service impacts over the next few weeks.
New – As part of the renewal of the Creative Export Strategy, the Creative Export Canada (CEC) program’s funding envelope has been increased by $4 million per year. Its total funding is $33 million for 3 years ($11 million per year, from 2023-2024 to 2025-2026).
The $11 million per year will be divided into 2 funding streams: the Export-Ready Stream and the new Export Development Stream.
In addition, the CEC program has expanded eligibility to a new creative industry, artistic craft.
A percentage of both streams of the CEC program’s funding will be reserved for companies and organizations where at least 50% of the owners and/or board members self-identify as Indigenous peoples and/or members of equity-deserving communities.
The CEC program provides visibility and funding to help Canadian creative works achieve financial success abroad. CEC aims to heighten exposure of Canadian creative works in international markets and to increase export profitability for Canada’s creative industries.
You can apply for funding through the CEC program under 1 of the 2 streams.
Export-Ready Stream
The Export-Ready Stream, formerly known as CEC, will continue to provide $7 million in funding per year to support export-ready projects that generate export revenues and help Canadian creative industries reach more people around the world.
The period for submitting a funding application for projects with expenses starting between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024 is now closed. The next intake will be in the Fall of 2023 (launch and deadline dates to be confirmed), for projects with expenses starting between April 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025.
