MOSID 00138 - Aircraft Structures Technician (ACS TECH)

General Duties:

Aircraft Structures (ACS) Technicians shall perform duties whose major functions involve aircraft structural repair. Structural maintenance is carried out to a first and second level on all aircraft and aircraft equipment. To be able to carry out his/her duties in all environments the ACS TECH must be able to perform to all of the Generic Task Statements – All CAF Members located in the A-MD-154-000/FP-000 Annex B. As well, the following table details the specific MES related duties for an ACS Tech at an applicable rank:

MOSID Related Duties - Specific Duties

1. Meet standards required by Non Commissioned Members General Specification X X X
2. Work in extreme climatic conditions (-40o C to +40o C) X X X

4. Cope with stress associated with working under noisy, congested conditions X X X
5. Cope with stress involved in supervising personnel and managing resources necessary to meet operational requirements X X X
6. Climb on/off aircraft loading ramps and aircraft surfaces (1M) X X X
7. Install/remove aircraft components and machinery parts weighing up to 35Kg X X X
8. Handle highly toxic chemicals and carcinogenic materials X X X
9. Cope with toxic fumes associated with welding, painting and chemical compounds required in aircraft composite repair while wearing Personal Protective Equipment X X X
10. Have good eye-hand coordination X X X
11. Work in high places such as aircraft wings and tail sections (up to 15M) X X X
12. Climb, stoop, kneel, and crawl around aircraft and support equipment for extended periods X X X
13. Perform work in hazardous shops, i.e. (welding shop, paint shop, machine shop and aircraft maintenance hangar) X X X
14. Cope with the stress associated with working with explosives on occasions. X X X

3. Tolerate periods of operational stress, compounded by excessive noise while working in the proximity of operating aircraft and equipment X X X
4. Endure stress/tension of constant exposure to high powered hazardous machinery X X X
