The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Systemic Racism Class Action Final Settlement Agreement, approved by the Federal Court effective January 10, 2025, provides monetary payments to eligible claimants, and introduces systemic relief measures to improve the culture within the CAF with the objective of addressing and eliminating racial discrimination and racial harassment.

The claims period is now open. Current and former members of the CAF who have experienced racial discrimination and/or racial harassment in connection with their military service between April 17, 1985, and January 10, 2025, may now submit a claim for a monetary payment.

The settlement also provides eligible claimants with opportunities to request a personalized letter of apology signed by the Chief of the Defence Staff, and to share their experiences through Restorative Engagement on Systemic Racism managed by the Sexual Misconduct Support and Resource Centre. Questions related to Restorative Engagement may be sent to the following confidential mailbox: SRCARE-RCRSDR@forces.gc.ca.

The claims period will run for a duration of twelve months beginning on October 15, 2025.

To learn more about the settlement and to submit a claim, visit the claims Administrator website: Canadian Armed Forces Racial Discrimination and Racial Harassment Class Action Claims Administration (you are now leaving the Government of Canada website).

Any questions regarding the claims form, the claims process or the letter of apology should be addressed to the claims Administrator via email at cafrd@deloitte.ca or by phone at 1-844-720-0499.
