About the Conduct and Culture Data Centre

The Conduct and Culture Data Centre (CCDC) is a consolidated source for data about conduct and culture in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and Department of National Defence (DND).

Purpose

DND and CAF are committed to increasing openness, transparency and accountability in their organizational culture evolution efforts. The data, information and reports presented in the CCDC supports this initiative. CCDC aligns with the Government of Canada’s goal to use digital delivery to make more information available to Canadians.

The CCDC also responds to the Independent External Comprehensive Review, which provided recommendations for DND/CAF to address cultural issues within the organization. Recommendation 45 of the review advised that DND/CAF should create an online public database of research and policies relating to:

The CCDC is a complementary tool that provides a consolidated and visual presentation of a selection of key findings and information from research reports listed in the database, as well as a wide range of other sources.

Data used in the Conduct and Culture Data Centre

The CCDC uses data from both internal DND/CAF systems and surveys, and publicly available data. The CCDC presents information about DND public service employees, CAF members and the Defence Team as a whole:

When available, information and statistics are presented for both DND public service employees and CAF members. In some cases, data will be presented from only one group, or together as the Defence Team. This happens when the source survey or system collects data on only one group and there is no equivalent source for the other group.

When there are less than 10 incidents, this data is removed to protect anonymity. Defence Team members have varying experiences based on their unique identities (location, gender, race etc.) that may not be reflected in the data.

Where possible, links to the source data sets are provided. There are gaps in the current collection of data. It is a priority of DND and CAF to continue to improve data collection, while protecting the privacy of individuals. We will continue to evolve the CCDC as part of our Culture Evolution Strategy as more data becomes available.

DND and CAF remains committed to addressing culture evolution. Please send questions about the CCDC to CPCCDND/CAFCCDC-CDCCMDN/FACCCPC@forces.gc.ca.
