Appendix 4 – General Campaign Star - Expedition (GCS-EXP)

General Campaign Star and General Service Medal regulations, 2009

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, pursuant to section 9 and subsection 17(1) of the General Campaign Star and General Service Medal Regulations, 2009,

  1. repeals Order in Council P.C. 2010-249 of March 10, 2010;
  2. determines that service that satisfies the following conditions is recognized as being worthy of the award of the General Campaign Star with the EXPEDITION ribbon:
    1. the service is performed outside Canada, in an approved location that is inside a specific theatre of operations and in the presence of an armed enemy, and
    2. the service consists of:
      1. a minimum of 30 cumulative days during the period beginning on January 1, 2003 and ending on October 4, 2014;
      2. a minimum of 14 cumulative days beginning on October 5, 2014; or
      3. in the case where some of the days of service are referred to in clause (A) but without meeting the minimum referred to in that clause and other days of service are referred to in clause (B) but without meeting the minimum referred to in that clause, the sum of those days of service if that sum is at least 14 cumulative days;
  3. specifies that the EXPEDITION ribbon referred to in paragraph (b) shall be 32 mm in width, consisting of a 12-mm light grey stripe in the middle, flanked by 2-mm white stripes and 8-mm red stripes; and
  4. determines that the General Campaign Star with the EXPEDITION ribbon referred to in paragraph (b) shall be worn after the General Campaign Star with the SOUTH-WEST ASIA ribbon.
