Governments of Canada and Northwest Territories expand partnership to enhance in-person services in the Northwest Territories

News release

July 9, 2018                        Ottawa, Ontario                        Employment and Social Development Canada

The Government of Canada and the Government of Northwest Territories (GNWT) have expanded their partnership to enhance access to Service Canada’s services through GNWT’s Single Window Service Centres in the communities of Délı̨nę, Fort Resolution, and Behchokǫ̀.

This followed the success of a 12-month service delivery pilot, implemented in January 2017, during which GNWT employees provided in-person services for Service Canada in the communities of Fort Providence, Fort Liard and Tuktoyaktuk. The expansion will bring enhanced services to a total of six communities.

Residents living in or near these communities will be able to obtain information about Government of Canada programs and services and receive assistance in applying for the following programs through this partnership: Apprenticeship Grants, Canada Pension Plan, Employment Insurance, Guaranteed Income Supplement, Old Age Security, the Social Insurance Number program, and the Wage Earner Protection Program.
