Eligibility requirements

To qualify for the Red Seal Completion Bonus, you must:

• be one of the following:
  • a Canadian citizen
  • a permanent resident
  • a protected person
• not be a high school student
• have completed an apprenticeship program as a registered apprentice in a designated Red Seal trade
• be a certified journeyperson who completed an apprenticeship training program in a designated Red Seal trade
• apply within the deadlines, which vary based on your certification date
• submit the required supporting documents for your province or territory (details to follow)

Important dates

Application deadlines depend on your certification date:

• if your certification date is between April 1, 2025, and November 15, 2026:
  • you must apply by May 31, 2027
• if your certification date is on or after November 16, 2026:
  • you must apply within 12 months of your certification date

Application will only be considered if submitted within these deadlines.

You must submit all required supporting documents within 28 calendar days of your application date. If we don't receive the supporting documents on time, you will need to submit a new application.
