“My position gives me the opportunity to interact with people around the world every day and understand how our data is used in a broad range of fields.”

Meet Sandrine Edouard.

Sandrine works as the National Coordinator of Open Data Access for the Meteorological Service of Canada (MSC). Throughout her 23-year career, Sandrine says that she has enjoyed many opportunities for learning and professional development alongside her talented colleagues at Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).

In her position, Sandrine works to support various departments and clients each day. “I am fortunate to work with the entire Research Development Operations Services chain and with our key partners at Shared Services Canada,” she says. “I am passionate about data, and I like to think that I’m helping to improve the management of our data by collaborating on the implementation of best practices.”

When asked about the greatest advancements she has seen over her career, Sandrine cites the very nature of her job in terms of open data access in the field of meteorology as well as the Data Management Committee. Comprising a cross-section of directors, section heads and senior scientists, the mandate of the committee is to manage change in data related to numerical weather and environmental prediction as well as the management of necessary changes based on the data needs of internal and external customers and partners.

In addition to her professional leadership roles, Sandrine has helped to coordinate the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign (GCWCC) for the Meteorological Service of Canada for the past several years. “It’s a unique opportunity to work with some terrific multidisciplinary teams to give the best of myself for the benefit of my community, on behalf of ECCC.”
