Administrative Burden Baseline: Update 2018, Environment and Climate Change Canada
In its Red Tape Reduction Action Plan, the Government committed to build on the efforts of the Paperwork Burden Reduction Initiative by requiring departments, through the Administrative Burden Baseline, to provide a count of the requirements in federal regulations that impose an administrative burden on business.
All federal regulations administered by Environment and Climate Change Canada that have requirements that impose administrative burden on business are identified below. The total 2018 count is 11,390. The total June 30, 2014 baseline count was 9,985.
During the period from July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2018, the Department amended six regulations and repealed one regulation that were relevant to the Administrative Burden Baseline count, resulting in a slight decrease from the 2017 count of 11,515. The Department also made one new regulation and amended one regulation, which will be counted in the year these regulations come into force.
