Administrative Burden Baseline: Update 2021
In its Red Tape Reduction Action Plan, the Government committed to build on the efforts of the Paperwork Burden Reduction Initiative by requiring departments, through the Administrative Burden Baseline, to provide a count of the requirements in federal regulations that impose an administrative burden on business.
All federal regulations administered by Environment and Climate Change Canada that have requirements that impose administrative burden on business are identified below. The total 2021 count is 16, 852. The total June 30, 2014 baseline count was 9,985.
During the period from July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021, the Department published two regulations, amended three regulations and repealed one regulation that were relevant to the Administrative Burden Baseline count, resulting in an increase from the 2020 count of 12,805.
Previous years’ counts for ECCC are available upon request.
