Code of Practice for management of air emissions from pulp and paper mills: appendix 1
Appendix 1: Annual Air Emission Limits
Pulp and paper mills should limit their sulphur dioxide (SO2) and total particulate matter (TPM) emissions to the lower of the following:
- The annual limits of SO2 and TPM emissions from the mill, calculated as follows:
Annual limits = I × P
where:P is the annual production calculated in accordance with Appendix 3, expressed in tonnes of production and
I is the base level emission requirement, as follows:- In the case of a chemical mill:
- 4.0 kg of SO2/tonne of production
- 2.0 kg of TPM/tonne of production
- In the case of a mechanical mill:
- 1.5 kg of SO2/tonne of production
- 0.5 kg of TPM/tonne of production
- In the case of a chemical mill:
- The limits or standards from federal or other jurisdictions that apply to the mill, if these are more stringent.
