Climate change reports

Access key reports and publications on the science of climate change and greenhouse gas emissions.

Canada's Second Biennial Report on Climate Change

This report presents projections of greenhouse gas emissions in Canada to the years 2020 and 2030. It also provides information on actions undertaken to address climate change, and climate-related support provided to developing countries. This report is submitted every 2 years to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Canada's Black Carbon Inventory Report

This report presents the results of Canada’s annual inventory of black carbon emissions. Black carbon is a short-lived, small aerosol (or airborne) particle linked to both climate warming and adverse health effects.

National Inventory Report - Greenhouse Gas Sources and Sinks in Canada

Canada is required on an annual basis to prepare and submit a national inventory of human induced greenhouse gas emissions from sources (e.g. fuel combustion, industrial processes) and removals by sinks (e.g. growing plants and trees) in the form of a National Inventory Report and a set of Common Reporting Format tables. See Canada's latest National Inventory Report.

Reported Facility Greenhouse Gas Data

The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reporting Program (GHGRP) is Canada’s legislated, publicly accessible inventory of facility-reported greenhouse gas (GHG) data and information. See the latest overview of reported emissions.

Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI)

Canadian Environmental Sustainability Indicators (CESI) measure the progress of the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy, report to Canadians on the state of the environment, and describe Canada’s progress on key environmental sustainability issues. See the air and climate indicators for more information.

Canada in a Changing Climate: Sector Perspectives on Impacts and Adaptation

Canada in a Changing Climate: Sector Perspectives on Impacts and Adaptation is an update to the 2008 report From Impacts to Adaptation: Canada in a Changing Climate. The report assesses literature published since 2007 on climate change impacts, adaptation and vulnerability in Canada. It includes chapters on natural resources, food production, industry, biodiversity and protected areas, human health, and water and transportation infrastructure.
