Energy Savings Rebate program

We are advised that fraudulent communications are taking place with Ontario residents, including requests for appointments to conduct home assessments related to the federal Energy Savings Rebate program. Please note that the Energy Savings Rebate program does not require any home assessments.

The Energy Savings Rebate program provided funding to eligible retailers to support point of sale rebates for energy-efficiency products in Ontario up until March 31, 2021. The program helped Ontarians reduce energy use, save money, and address climate change.

Approximately $200 million was available for eligible retailers to provide rebates.

Rebate period

After signing the funding agreements, successful applicants with locations in five or more municipalities could provide rebates up until September 30, 2020 (extended to December 31, 2020 for retailers with remaining approved funding). Successful applicants with locations in one to four municipalities could provide rebates up until March 31, 2021.

As specified in the Energy Savings Rebate program funding agreement, all eligible retail advertising and promotional activities were to acknowledge the Government of Canada’s Energy Savings Rebate program.
