Hunting regulations for migratory game birds: provincial and territorial summaries 2026 to 2027

Notice

Avian influenza (bird flu) is a contagious virus that mainly affects domestic and wild birds.

For more information, including how to safely handle wild game and any restrictions on the import or export of harvested migratory game birds, consult Avian influenza in wild birds

The Migratory Game Bird Hunting Regulations Summaries are published each year to provide an overview of the hunting regulations for each province and territory. They include information such as open season dates, daily bag and possession limits, and permit requirements.

For the 2026-2027 hunting season, printed summaries will be available at select Canada Post outlets and independent vendors. Starting with the 2027-2028 hunting season, paper copies will no longer be offered. Electronic versions will continue to be available on this page, including versions you can print at home.

For more information on the restrictions and requirements to hunt migratory game birds in Canada, please refer to the Migratory Birds Regulations, 2022 and/or consult Migratory game bird hunting, which includes frequently asked questions.
