Canada School of Public Service

The Canada School of Public Service (CSPS) is the Government of Canada’s common learning provider, supporting federal public servants with a standardized learning curriculum that incorporates modern and responsive public administration practices.

CSPS Digital Academy

The CSPS Digital Academy provides public servants with the skills and knowledge they need to deliver digital-era programs, policies and services.

It supports Canada’s Digital Ambition, which sets clear long-term objectives for how the government will put people, policy and technology at the centre of service delivery for Canadians. The academy advocates for a digital-first approach that aligns with Canada’s Digital Standards and Digital Competencies.

As part of the CSPS Digital Academy, the GC Data Community connects, engages and serves data practitioners, enablers and learners across the Government of Canada to improve policies, programs and service delivery to Canadians.

Digital, AI, data, and design learning

Explore a range of foundational courses, events, articles, videos, job aids and other learning tools on a variety of digital, artificial intelligence (AI), data and service design themes. Topics include digital government, product management, agile, design thinking, service design, the cloud, cyber security, data, AI, and digital-era leadership.

IT learning and development support

If you work in an IT-classified role, you may have access to more learning opportunities through the IT Community Training and Development Fund.

The fund provides funding for several training options for Government of Canada employees covered by the IT collective agreement.

Talent management for digital leaders

Talent management support helps digital leaders build skills and grow their careers. Much of the support offered is informed by annual, government-wide round tables that identify leaders who are ready for new roles or experiences.

Support can include the following.

  • Visibility for future roles: Departments identify digital leaders who are ready for new roles.
  • Career advancement opportunities: Connecting digital leaders with new jobs, assignments, or promotions across government.
  • Mentoring: Leaders are paired with mentees to help them build skills and advance in their careers. Open to mentees in employment equity groups who are identified through round-table talent discussions.
  • Digital community support: Advice and career support for digital professionals in the Government of Canada.

NextGen Digital Leaders Program

The NextGen Digital Leaders Program helps digital professionals build the skills, knowledge and networks they need to lead digital change across government.

In partnership with the University of Ottawa’s Professional Development Institute, the program supports professionals advancing into digital executive roles in the Government of Canada.

The program targets executives both within and outside the federal public service.

The Digital Talent Career Mobility Workshops help digital professionals build skills and explore career opportunities across the Government of Canada.

The IT Apprenticeship Program for Indigenous Peoples provides a pathway to federal employment for First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. The program has been developed by, with, and for Indigenous peoples from across Canada

Support for Black public servants in digital careers

The Supporting Future Innovators initiative offers Black public servants flexible learning opportunities in high-demand digital skill areas. It aims to increase career development opportunities and help participants build digital skills to lead and advance digital government.
