Proposed Approach to Cost Recovery for the Regulation of Cannabis – Closed Consultation

This consultation ran from July 12 and August 13, 2018.
We were seeking feedback on the Proposed approach to cost recovery for the regulation of cannabis . Cost recovery is based on the principle that the general public should not bear the cost of government activities where private parties gain the main social or economic benefit.
The fees outlined in this proposed approach build on the Cannabis Regulations. The proposed fees would apply to:
- cultivators
- processors
- nurseries
- sellers of cannabis for medical and non-medical purposes
Some exemptions apply.
Goals of the consultation
We were seeking your input and views on the:
- proposed fees that would apply to:
- cultivators
- processors
- nurseries
- sellers of cannabis for medical and non-medical purposes
- exemptions from cost recovery fees
We will consider your comments when making decisions on fee structures under the cost recovery approach. We expect this approach to be in place after the coming into force of the Cannabis Act and its regulations.
