Importing countries finding a drug company under Canada's Access to Medicines Regime
Countries that want to use Canada's Access to Medicines Regime are required to make an arrangement with a Canadian pharmaceutical company that is prepared to manufacture the needed drug or medical device. Non-governmental organizations may be able to help a country connect with a pharmaceutical company interested in exporting. See the list of pharmaceutical industry associations in Canada, along with the types of medicines in which their members specialize, for help in identifying companies that might be prepared to participate in the Regime.
Once an arrangement has been established, the responsibility for submitting an application under the Regime belongs to the exporting company. As part of its application, a company will require a certified copy of the letter of notification sent to the World Trade Organization or the Government of Canada by the importing country.
