Notification requirements for importing countries under Canada's Access to Medicines Regime
Eligible countries are required to notify the World Trade Organization (WTO) or the Government of Canada of their plans to use Canada's Access to Medicines Regime. Each reporting authority will publish the information disclosed by the importing country on a website reserved for that purpose. The information the country is to provide in the notification is based on the classification of the country:
- Schedule 2 - Least-developed countries, as recognized by the United Nations, including those that are not members of the WTO.
- Schedule 3 - WTO member countries that have not indicated to the WTO whether they intend to take advantage of the WTO decision.
- Schedule 4 - WTO member countries that have indicated to the WTO they will take advantage of the WTO decision in a public health emergency.
- Schedule 4 - Developing countries that are not members of the WTO and are on the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development's list of countries eligible for development assistance.
Any additional conditions that countries must comply with under the Regime are identified in Requirements for Importing Countries.
