The Pest Management Regulatory Agency is now accepting pesticide registration data from Palamur Laboratories
27 February 2025
In June 2024, Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) issued a notice stating that it would no longer be accepting studies generated by Palamur Biosciences Lab (Palamur) in Telangana, India due to the possible falsification of data following an inspection by the Indian National Good Laboratory Practice Compliance Monitoring Authority (NGCMA). NGCMA declared 58 studies as not compliant with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) principles during the last certification cycle (2021–2024).
NGCMA has since conducted a series of follow-up inspections of the test facility (Palamur) and verified that appropriate corrective and preventative actions were implemented satisfactorily. NGCMA considers Palamur to be back to operating in compliance with GLP Principles. The status of GLP compliance of the test facility may be reviewed at the official website of NGCMA.
The PMRA is now accepting studies initiated by Palamur on or after 1 October 2024.Footnote 1
In addition, the PMRA has received information confirming that the two registered products in Canada that were affected by the June 2024 notice continue to be acceptable. This is based on a PMRA review of requested replacement data submitted by the registrants.
For general information on study acceptability, please consult PMRA’s process for determining study acceptability for use in pesticide risk assessments, and the PMRA Guidance Document, Good Laboratory Practice Requirements for Scientific Studies Supporting Pest Control Products.
