Fee to evaluate biocides applications
Before a biocide is authorized for sale in Canada, Health Canada assesses its safety, efficacy and quality. Biocide products include disinfectants previously regulated under the Food and Drug Regulations, surface sanitizers for use in food premises previously subject to the Food and Drugs Act, and certain surface sanitizers previously regulated under the Pest Control Products Act.

Fee for the right to sell biocides
Health Canada monitors biocides on the Canadian market through post-market surveillance activities. Industry pays an annual fee for the right to sell biocides products and to maintain those products on the Canadian market.
