Add a dependant – Quebec PSR application
(REF-OVS-7-3-4)
This section contains policy, procedures and guidance used by IRCC staff. It is posted on the department’s website as a courtesy to stakeholders.
To add a dependant to a permanent residence application, the process varies, depending on the type of dependant the principal applicant is requesting to add.
In the case of Quebec resettlement processing, whenever a dependant is added to a permanent residence application overseas, the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Diversité et de l’Inclusion (MIDI) must reassess the validity of the sponsorship application. If a de facto dependant is added to the application, a new sponsorship application is required from MIDI (not the sponsor). As a new application is required, delays may occur in processing this application at the MIDI.
Sponsor advises MIDI
- The MIDI assesses the sponsorship application, renders a decision and sends it to ROC-O by email.
- If the sponsorship application is approved by the MIDI, the
- IRCC office abroad requests new IMM 6000 forms, identity documents and other documents, as required, and assess the bona fides of the relationship
- If the sponsorship application is refused by MIDI, the
- ROC-O refuses the permanent residence application overseas
