June 12, 2020
New instructions are available for the processing of new and existing resettlement applicants who are exempt from the travel ban effected by the Order-in-Council on March 18, 2020. This includes those who can self-book their travel.
However, while some may be exempt from the travel ban, there are limitations on who can be resettled at this time, given capacity constraints of resettlement partners abroad and in Canada. Conditions to facilitate departure vary by country. Departures may not be possible due to various factors, such as airport closures, flight availability and domestic movement restrictions.
The Resettlement Operations Division – COVID-19 Coordination Unit will be coordinating the process of confirming capacity and arranging travel for exempt resettlement cases.
