How to get a police certificate – Kosovo
If you need to give your fingerprints for a police certificate, this isn’t the same as giving your biometrics (fingerprints and photo) for an application.
Name of the document you need
Certificate on Criminal Convictions (Certifikata mbi Dënimet Penale’ (Albanian) and ‘Uverenje o krivičnim presudama’ (Serbian) from the Department of Central Criminal Evidence with the Judicial Council of Kosovo
Police certificate and IRCC requirements
You must provide a police certificate when you apply for:
- permanent residence
- citizenship
- some temporary residence programs

How to apply
If you live in Kosovo
Apply in person at your local court (Gjykata Komunale) or online via the portal “E-Kosova.”
If you live outside of Kosovo
Apply online via the online platform “E-Kosova.”
For foreign nationals and those without valid documents, the certificate must be obtained in person in one of Kosovo’s courts of first instance. This certificate can also be collected by an authorized representative of the concerned person.
Special considerations
- Non-citizens must include proof of stay in Kosovo (present or past).
- Non-citizens can only apply in person at a local court in Kosovo.
