How to get a police certificate - Mozambique
If you need to give your fingerprints for a police certificate, this isn’t the same as giving your biometrics (fingerprints and photo) for an application.
Name of the document you need
Certificado do Registo Criminal
Police certificate and IRCC requirements
You must provide a police certificate when you apply for:
- permanent residence
- citizenship
- some temporary residence programs
Check your application package or instructions for details.
How to apply
If you live in Mozambique
Citizens or residents must apply for the Certificado do Registo Criminal at either
- the Criminal Records (Registo Criminal) headquarters office in Maputo (corner of Rua dos Flores and Avenida 24 de Julho)
- the Civil Records (Registo Civil) office located in most provincial capitals
Forms are available at these locations once you have paid your fees. You must give your fingerprints when you submit your request.
If you live outside Mozambique
You must designate a local resident to submit the request at Criminal Records Headquarters in Maputo. Proxy and application forms are available at the same office.
No fingerprints are required for overseas residents. The designation must be signed by two witnesses, and the designated representative can collect the certificate from Criminal Records once it is available.
