How to get a police certificate – Panama
If you need to give your fingerprints for a police certificate, this isn’t the same as giving your biometrics (fingerprints and photo) for an application.

If you are a citizen of Panama:
If you live in Panama:
You can apply in person or send a representative to apply for you at the Departamento de Investigación Judicial (see Contact information and address below).
If you live outside of Panama:
You can apply in person at the General Consulate of Panama or send a representative to apply for you at the Departamento de Investigación Judicial in Panama (see Contact information and address below).
If you are not a citizen of Panama:

You can apply in person or send a representative to apply for you at the Departamento de Investigación Judicial (see Contact information and address below).
If you live outside Panama:
You can apply in person or send a representative to apply for you at the Departamento de Investigación Judicial (see Contact information and address below).
Information and documents you need:
- Your identification document (Cédula) or passport (or a photocopy if a representative is applying for you)
- If a representative applies for you, they must have notarized authorization.
- Forms are to be completed at the Dirección de Investigación Judicial or at the General Consulate of Panama on the day of the request.
- You must specify the certificate is for “Uso Internacional”
- Fiscal stamps, purchased from Banco Nacional, are required to issue the certificate. For more information on fiscal stamps, contact the Departamento de Autenticación y Legislación (see Contact information and address below).
