Passport and travel document fee changes

As of March 31, 2026, most passport and travel document fees increased to reflect inflation and service delivery costs. These fees will adjust annually in accordance with the Service Fees Act.

If we receive your application on or after March 31, 2026, you will need to pay the new fee.

Paying the correct fees

Online and in-person applications

When you apply online or in person, the amount you pay is based on the day you submit your application.

Before you submit it, check that you paid the correct amount.

Mailed applications

If you mail us your application, there’s a delay between when you send it and when we receive it. Fees may have changed while your application was in transit.

The fee you must pay depends on the date we receive your application, not the date you mail it.

What happens if you paid the old fee

The next steps depend on when we receive your application.

Applications received between March 31, 2026, and April 29, 2026

During this transition period, we will continue to accept applications that include the old fee.

You do not need to pay the fee difference if all of the following apply:

  • We receive your application on or before April 29, 2026.
  • You applied using an application form that lists the old fees.
  • Your application is complete, including
    • application form
    • photos
    • all your supporting documents
    • fees
Applications received on or after April 30, 2026

We may send your application back to you and ask that you submit it again with the correct fees.
